Well, thought about a scrap run to try & get out of red this weekend put me in, but still so incredibly tired. probably only slept maybe 15 hours in 4/5 days, and not good quality sleep, just enough to drain the fog a bit so could keep going. the music festival was something like a war and somehow survived. It truly reminded me of a modern day Woodstock. What a way to spend the Summer Solstice! incredible, to say least. want to go back next year. Didn't know festivals like this could exist. was like another planet of peace, love, unity, & of course the most important - respect. just like the P.L.U.R. daze. made me so happy, makes me so happy inside knowing that the torch didn't get extinguished and has, in my opinion, prob a growth devoid of police intervention, has become maybe a bit 'better' with all the organization. I've never seen a vendor outlet like this before in my life, and I've gone to a lot of festivals in lifetime. this one is on par in every way. Even Dunkin Donuts had a stand called the Brainery, right next to the free coffee line (too long for me) where you can learn about things, such as booty dancing & other lectures so you're not just getting hammered at a festival, but come back with something in your brain instead of squished out completely. so many cool artists & originality. There was a wrestling match, a roller derby (mostly girls) , an indoor water park where you could ride a kayak even! Just mind-blowing all the cool stuff, and I'm sure we didn't even see it entirely. hammocks from every tree for rest. Free samples everywhere. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. The artwork was off-the-chain. We were cut short 2 nights/days due to the insane weather that pounded our neighboring tents into dust. ours kept its form and somewhat dry thanks to my brother's mathematics & tying everything down the following opening morning. I had gotten too hammered on way in & don't even recall setting up. Vic did most of the work, so I did most of tear down last day. We work as a team & I'm very thankful we were not separated the entire time. That within itself is a miracle & kept the stern directed into a positive direction despite the setbacks of evacuation.
Not going to due scrap run & be forced into standing in a muddy lake of carcinogenic ooze for a measly 50 bills. think I'll just try & go over all these photos & clips, though for some reason I cannot open about 50 of the pics due to some kind of malfunction. Haven't even reached for GoPro yet, but that has some funny stuff on it. Maybe i'll put it in now.
Another quote from Electric Forest:
I'm sitting under the shade of a tree and someone appears in my field of vision and says, 'You are worthy of knowing you are a wonderful human being, always remember that.' And he shook my hand cupping the other overtop just to make sure nothing escaped. Little special moments of passing on good vibes. So much positive energy & respect. Rarely did I see someone toss anything into Sherwood Forest. even took a photograph of the trash cans, for everyone was so in tune with being respectful that they actually separated the garbage with recyclables. amazing! and though alcohol was served, this wasn't a place for drinking and/or drunks. Those are the people that faded out as night approached. I only bought 2 beers the entire time; one for me, and one for my brother.
There was some riff-raff at the end, some guy trying to stab someone, some car break-ins, some cars stolen, but other than that, for that many people, it went off very well. And of course the 2 massive thunderstorms! Yeah, they had to shut down early the very last day.
