So, guess i should explain about this structure. It is actually an ongoing experiment so-to-speak.
Besides the basic framing i am using pallet wood & various discarded materials. It has a metal
roof paid for by recycling metal at the scrapyard, also most of the metal hardware & screws. I’ve
never written down any plans, just came to me in a dream the night after my father gave me the
go-ahead around the campfire as we drank cold beers under a full Moon (and a few tokes after).
The experiment was/is to see if it could be built using discarded wood & recycling at a cost that
wasn’t too detrimental. So far it has not interfered with my beer $, even though materials are at
an all time high. The other part of the experiment was to see if i could do it without any help
whatsoever. Every nail, every screw, every board that’s been painstakingly found, driven over
30 miles, then pried, & cut is all by my own hands. And to cut a piece i have to walk uphill & out
of the woods (my parents property) to do so on a miter saw. At night i use 5 rechargeable solar
lights. Each time there is visible work done (daytime) i set my tripod up in the exact same spot
for a pic. At the end i’ll tie em all together into a film strip so one can see it go from start-to-
finish.
In order to avoid driving under the influence & being responsible, I’d just crash out in my
hammock, tent, or simply (depending on how many beers under the belt) sleep on the ground.
Have carried my camera all around the world & can live comfortably without any creature
comforts. At times i would not return home for nearly a week!
So the ‘structure’ is multifunctional. # 1 most importantly is yes - beer drinking. But it is also for
my guided trout fishing guests so we can be up at the same time, cook them breakfast, leave at
same time et cetera, easier & in the end more personal & interesting. Also a place where visiting
friends & family can stay out in the ‘rugged’ outdoors & can gaze in awe at the macabre
collection of skulls, bones, & hides
I've found throughout the property over the years. But most
importantly ‘The Chicken Shack’ will be a place for me to stay when the inevitable begins to
happen to my aging parents. Have a difficult time being confined, especially when there’s a
television involved, but would like to be there for them in their time(s) of need.
Lastly, this sanctuary will be a ceremonial ‘safe’ spot for being taught the ongoing lessons of the
sacred cactus (Grandfather Peyote & His offspring) while being devoid of electrical/radio
wavelength pollution, a launchpad to board the mental spaceship in order to temporarily escape
from this doomed planet of the masked apes….
The Shack is an ongoing experiment of will, determination, and overall faith - cheers!
